If you can’t walk past a mirror without checking yourself out and judging your body parts then read on.
I want to give you an invaluable tool that totally shifted my body relationship and allowed me to navigate the path out of severe body dysmorphia and hatred.
I was the kind of body obsessor whose life revolved around how my body looked and felt.
I would cancel plans at the last minute if I felt fat.
I avoided intimacy with my partner for weeks at a time when I was having a bad body month.
And I’d go to extreme measures to make myself not eat – taking diet pills, drugs, diuretics, drastic diets and militant negative self talk – all in the name of trying to look better on the outside so I could feel better on the inside.
It never worked to get rid of my body obsession though, and it never made me feel better.
It only made me obsess and fixate even more – judging my body constantly, and worrying about how others were judging it.
It was like living in an invisible prison. I could be smiling and looking fine on the outside but my mind was locked up somewhere else, thinking about my fat thighs.
Regardless of what the scale said, I always felt heavy.

This tool was something I was unknowingly trying to access in all my years as a health and fitness expert, but it only clicked in the last few years and now it’s the strategy I use throughout the day to feel calm, connected and confident.
Using this tool and a few other daily metrics allows me to feel comfortable, grounded and even sexy in my body, regardless of what the scale says.
I feel more connected and am able to be present with people because my mind isn’t obsessing on feeling fat or worrying what others think.
Today I am comfortable in the skin I’m in. Sure I have moments where I’ve gotten out of my routine and need to recommit to my self care and fitness practices.
But there is nothing more liberating than feeling unencumbered and lighter because the heaviness of obsession and anxiety has lifted.
That is the gift I want you to have too because when you are feeling lighter and unencumbered you show up more presently with your family, in your work and on your path of purpose.
You share all of you with all of us and that is actually the greatest gift of all 🙂
