‘You’re allowed to accept yourself as you are, but I’m held to a different standard.”…that’s what I told myself for decades.
Everyone else was off the hook, but I needed to be perfect, do it right and look good at all times.
My impossible ideals drove me to spending 3 hours getting ready for a party and then finally cancelling because I was gross and fat and didn’t feel good in any of my clothes.
Or hiding the fact that I actually had bodily functions from my boyfriend who I lived with for 2 years.
Or not trying anything I didn’t already know I’d excel at.
Needing to be perfect, do it right and look good stole decades of my life. It kept me in a small, rigid world of control where I felt like I could never take a full breath.
I share this because today, perfectionism doesn’t have a hold on me.
Today I get messy. I try new things. I fuck up. I risk looking bad. I put myself out there. I truly live!
And I’m happy.
And I want you to have the same thing, which is why I recorded this video for you:
So that when that pesky voice of perfectionism pipes up, you can easily move past it.
Because I want you to live the life that you’re here to live, help the people you’re here to help, and fall madly in love with who you are — in all of your exquisite humanness.
That’s what freedom is. And that’s what I want for you.
So check out that video right here, How To End Perfectionism And Stop Holding Back, and use the “war cry” I share at the end to help inspire you to go an live that amazing life that’s waiting for you!
In dedication of all things raw, real and recovered,
p.s.
